Went tire slashing, I guess.

Friday, April 05, 2013

So, a few days ago, I was all, "Yeah! I've got this week owned! Raawwwrrr!" Yeah, not so much. This week snowballed, with a rough day at work, then some poor sleep, than some bad food decisions, and another rough day at work, than some wine, and discovering the chocolate-peppermint brownies I made at Christmastime in the freezer, and, well, you get it.

I need to not be rocked when my schedule and/or plans get knocked out of whack. I did that thing this week, where there was a flat tire, so I slashed the other 3 tires, instead of focusing on getting the one tire fixed. That's my favorite weight-loss analogy because it's so very true!

This weekend will be challenging schedule-wise, but I'll be doing some fun things with positive people. I'm volunteering this weekend with a local group, Fences For Fido, where we go out and build fences for dogs that are chained 10 or more hours a day, so they can be safely untethered. There's no judgment of the owners, no "You should/shouldn't do this," no assumptions about what breeds of dogs are "good" or "bad"---just trying to solve one problem a lot of dog owners face, and maybe make their lives easier, and their dogs a little happier. Plus, the other volunteers are really good, kind people!

Sunday is a TV night, when I go to a friend's house to watch "Mad Men"--she's a foodie friend, but she usually makes healthier choices, so I know she'll have a lot of fresh veggies or maybe a light soup on hand.

I will get some time in to walk; I know my week would have been more manageable if I'd carved out that time for myself. Even if I was eating too much, I could have at least felt better about myself overall!

Cheers to healthful, positive weekends for all!

The volunteering that you are going to do sounds great and should help you to remember how much you have and get you back to focusing on what is important rather than a few little setbacks.

Its one bad day, put it behind you, forgive yourself and just remind that staying on track can be harder on some days but will always be worth it in the end! (and I LOVE that analogy!!) emoticon
Enjoy Mad Men!

Don't fret too much. So you fell off the wagon, but you know where you went wrong and you know how to fix it. The important thing is , if you are partial to analogies, is that you mended your tires and now you are back on the road... to good health that is!!
Sounds like a good weekend planned. That's a nice thing you are doing for those dogs. I know my dog needs to run!! It's not the same if I even take him walking and have to leave him on a leash.... he needs to go, so yes, that will be great for those pups!!
Hope you have a great weekend. Try to unwind a little. Sounds like you had quite a hectic week. emoticon
