Today I have the day off but I want to maximize it -- I already did 1 hour at the gym and want to do heavy-duty cleaning at my house. My procrastination and poor housekeeping habits have let my living conditions turn into a mess. There's no time like the present to make a positive change! :)
My gym workout was decent, although I had to bow out on the Zumba class I initially started. I showed up a few minutes late to the packed class so had to pick a spot in the back corner. I always try to be front and center to see the moves properly. But I could tell even if I were in my ideal spot, the instructor (whose class I was new to) had overly choreographed moves -- lots of grapevines and turns. It felt more like a step class than a Zumba session.
Instead I left early and did some weight training for the hour. Felt good to be complimented on my physical strength! An older gentleman wanted to work in a set on the calf raise machine I was on. He said he was impressed with the amount of weight I was using, and that if he tried it he would be afraid of getting a hernia ;) It is true, though, that I have unusually strong legs. Just too bad I can't shift some of the strength to my currently weak upper body... My goal is to be able to do a chin up unassisted by the end of the year, as well as full body push ups. It's tough because even for professional female athletes one can only expect to put on a fraction of pound in lean muscle mass each week. No worries! I like challenges
In other news, R., the older man who was showing a romantic interest in me, texted me back today. He may be old enough to be my father but he sure demonstrated an immature streak. Last night around 8 pm I texted him to the effect of, "Nice seeing you last night at salsa...look forward to hanging out as a group next week." This morning at 6:30 am (!?!?) he texted me, "Ouch :/" Really??? We only recently exchanged numbers (because were part of the same social group). At least with my own cell phone etiquette guidelines, if I wouldn't feel comfortable in calling someone at a certain hour, then I wouldn't text them at that time either. You never know how disruptive someone's text alert may be if their phone is turned on. So did R. really need to text me a non-important message in the early hours? Once again, I'm feeling a lot less flattered and much more irritated with the man...
OK, I'm off to clean out my little house until it's squeaky clean! Then I'll walk my dogs and if I'm up for it, there's a salsa dance class downtown around 9pm today.
Carpe diem :) Hope everyone has a wonderful Spring weekend.
