Just working on staying hydrated.

Friday, April 05, 2013

I found coconut water here in Mexico and have been drinking like 24 ounces a day in addition to the Gatorade as it was also recommended by my doctor for hydration. It's not bad. Perhaps sweeter than I normally would have but if it works...woo hoo!
I called the lab today and my results for all the tests won't be complete until tomorrow. Then I can meet with the doctor and see if anything is up.
I am not feeling too bad, but not much energy to speak of. Yesterday, again, I felt like I ate a lot. If interested you can check out my food tracker. Again, very strange as I lost another pound eating more calories and am now down to 107. Just so darn funny. I might be tired as the doctor had me stop all vitamin and suppliments that I was taking as well....when I go to meet with her I will ask her about the specific things I was taking. As I mentioned before, I am really working hard to figure it all out and why I lose my electrolytes. Mobycarb had an interesting thought about the weight loss even though I am eating more but way less fiber. He thought perhaps the fiber was holding water in my system and that once I cut it out things moved quicker.
Tomorrow DH leaves for 10 weeks to go up to Pennsylvania to finish his basement project. I actually am feeling a bit sad about it this time but would never tell him as I wouldn't want him to feel guilty. And if I can just get this body straightened out I can always fly up and visit. We will see. I really want to get my body in healthy shape for our planned visit to Disney World at the end of June. We are going for 3 weeks and I want to have lots of energy to play with the grandkids.
I hope all of you are doing just great. I hope some of you are entering into spring and getting the warmth of the sunshine. For us we are early in entering our hot season with temps near 90. At least there is no humidity. But things are dry and dusty. Our rainy season starts in mid to late June.
Have a terrific day.
Sallie

emoticon I'm "late to the party" here, Sallie, and didn't see this post of yours until just now, but I'm glad you're so diligent about maintaining optimum hydration. This electrolyte loss is so puzzling, and yet I can tell you you're not alone - for some reason, I started losing too much sodium. I had a 24-hr. urine test and extensive blood work done by both my internist and a nephrologist, and my kidney function was otherwise normal. So the only recommendation was to limit my fluids (I HATED that..still do, though I'm used to it now) and increase my sodium consumption to 4,000 mg./day (bizarre...and initially, they wanted it at 6,000 - which was extremely difficult). So I ended up seeking the help of the registered dietitian at the nephrologist's practice, and since I like to cook, she suggested I start making sauces with regular soy sauce (the full-sodium kind). So now my serum sodium's always within normal limits, though I fear turning into a pillar of salt emoticon ! Keep working with your medical professionals, Sallie...I have a strong feeling this team is really going to help you. emoticon

Glad to hear that things are still improving. Very interesting to read about the changes you have made and their effects. Hoping the doctor will have more good advice tomorrow and the test results will be helpful too. Take care :-)

We have the same weather here in the southwest, with the monsoon season starting at the same time. When I lived in Washington State we use to go to Mexico to get away from the rain and dreary skies. No need to now. Except the people are so sweet aren't they? I hope you'll have all your answers tomorrow. Be sure to share.

Glad you're feeling better. I think MOBY is onto something. But, regardless, glad you're feeling better.

I hope you get some good news on your tests Sallie, be careful not to lose weight too quickly hun (as tempting as it is it's not a good thing -hugs)

10 weeks away is a long time, let's hope you can visit.

Spring? I wish, we had snow yesterday and bitterly cold winds today, I'm hoping it'll pick up a bit tomorrow so I can get the lawn mowed at least, it's getting to look like a jungle out there.
