Wait for It...Wait for It

Friday, April 05, 2013

Lately...I've had so many situations where I felt that someone was more than just absent minded. I almost feel like they were waiting for something bad to happen, to gawk at or laugh at. I go to the store and someone just leaves a shopping cart next to a car, on an hill. I'm at the checkout counter, and the customer being checked out is having a casual conversation on their cell phone while there is a line behind them, instead of helping to pack and get the stuff off the counter. And my favorite is the highway driver who races to pass you on the left, just to exit, when there was no one behind you.

Never mind me...I'm just grumpy today. I'll get over it.

I watched a Joy Bauer JOY FIT CLUB excerpt from a someone who lost 200 lbs and one of her tricks was using chopped up cauiliflower instead of rice. We also eat with our eyes...and if something looks appetizing ...because you are used to seeing something WHITE on your plate...then your mind can be slightly more satisfied. Cauliflower is on sale at my supermarket...2 for $4.
I'm going to try that trick.

I luv cauliflower in just about anyway shape or form - yum, yum! I add it to my spaghetti to cut down on the other white stuff and it works so well with the pasta and the tomato sauce - double yum, yum!!

I love cauliflower I am sure I can make use of your idea.

Now, my pet peeve CELLPHONES! They are the new rude in our world today. I do not own one, I about choke when I see almost everyone, everywhere on one. I was at my Dr's office in the waiting room, and everyone in there was on a cell. Including an at least 70 year old lady. When I was working and someone in my line to check out was on one, I tried very hard not to scream their head off for being rude, not only to me, but those also waiting in line. I hate those things.
Only good use for them is for emergencys when traveling. Didn't we used to have call boxes on the highways for this sort of thing? How did we and our children ever manage to live without them. Whoever invented them needs their ass kicked, at least the texting part of it. Whatever happened to regular
one on one voice conversation? I think they are another one of the things dropped in the basket on the road to Hell-o. emoticon

Grating the cauliflower makes it look like rice. Then you can just microwave it for a few minutes..or stir fry it. You can make a fried cauliflower rice. You can also make cauliflower popcorn. Cut it into bite size flowerettes, then shake olive oil on it and then shake parmesean on it and bake it at 375.

Have a great day.

Yes, the road is fraught with all kinds of incomprehensible behavior. I never cease to marvel--and grumble. I found the picture pretty amusing.

I've yet to try cauliflower as "rice" but I love it pureed after cooking in homemade chicken stock, especially with some grass-fed butter!

Mind tricks with cauliflower never work for me! I've tried! I like cauliflower, but my brain and taste buds don't think it's funny when I try to replace other things with it. Mashed potatoes for example...my taste buds didn't think that was funny at all!

  Hi Sheryl.........
I am going to try the cauliflower idea. I love it fixed just about ANY way, so it should be a treat.

I know what you mean about there being so many examples of "RUDE"!!!!! Doesn't anyone think of others anymore? It's like a "Lost Art."

Have a great weekend. Hope you are feeling better.

Like the guywith the SUV that touched my bumper, what he didn't know how to stop an inch away? He did turn off when I glared at him in the rearview mirror...I had my "don't make me get out of this car" face..it is effective..

hope the weekend is better! emoticon

You are so right about the cell phones. I volunteer at a food pantry on Saturday mornings, it is set up like a grocery store and people come through with their shopping carts, and now they have a ban on cell phones. We are trying to help people, it is very busy, but they are on the phone! Now they are holding up people behind them and we have a back-up. So we have to enforce the rules.

But TGIF and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Funny picture! As the part owner of several dogs I can see one of the males doing something like this!
I have seen both the cell phone at the checkout and the driver who passes just to turn off ahead of you and never understand their thinking. Maybe bad parenting!

Just discovered how to use radishes to make faux mashed potatoes. (Made the cauliflower ones - they're great too.)

o.O

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!?!?!

Trim any junk. Boil them 20 or so minutes. Don't even peel them; the color is left in the water, along with a lot of the "burn". Mash. Throw in loads of butter. Endulge!

The only trouble with that "trick" is you have to like cauliflower. I tried the mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. I almost choked- tasted just like cauliflower, which I loathed. lol.
Don't know why I thought it would work. But they were so sure everyone would just love it.

LOL....I hope that pic was staged. I will think of this pic when I think I am having a bad day and realize that some one else has it worse. As far as your "rants" I so agree with what you said....especially the cell phones. Although I have one I use it for emergencies or texting to keep in touch with my bro and son. I remember when you needed to go home to call someone or find a pay phone. YOU have a wonderful weekend....am having cauliflower tonight with dinner...will be thinking of you. emoticon

The thing I dislike about that picture (other than what you already said) is the message it sends about women.

When does being absent minded or oblivious become thoughtless and rude behavior? I do try to be thoughtful of others, but I know I'm not perfect, so I try to understand when others are thoughtless, however--there is a limit to my patience. Why do people yell into the cell phone? Why do people drive so fast in parking lots? Why does that green urban assault vehicle always run the stop sign at Mine Road? Yes, I know how you feel.

You'll have to tell us whether the cauliflower trick worked or not.

Have a great weekend, too--it's going to be really nice here!

I feel like I've had a bunch of these days lately. We do find a way out to see the good in everything, sometimes it just takes longer. I'm so grateful for SP to vent and be me without judgement. I hope you have a great weekend. I like the idea of cauliflower. I think I rather it raw than cooked. I need to think of delicious ways to cook it maybe I'll find it more appealing. Oh and this pic you posted is crazy! I wonder if it's photo shopped or if someone was that immoral to take this pic instead of letting this chic know hey watch out! *smh*

LOL. What kind of friggin dog does crap like this. Definitely not woman's best friend.

I can definitely relate to your grumbling. I feel the same way. Personally I hate cell phones. They have caused many people I encounter to have the I.Q. of a clinically dead person. It would be so humiliating for me to be one of these brain dead idiots and they are too stupid to realize how foolish they look. There phones become an extension of their hands and I find myself wondering what they do when they have to wipe their butts. Too much info, I'm sure. LOL.
