Jogging, Parading Branches, Wonder and a Flat Tire

Friday, April 05, 2013

While I was jogging yesterday an amazing lyric vibrated through my MP3. It was from the band "For King and Country". I’d listened to it before, but this felt different, more personal.

"Jesus stranded with a flat tire, and He's grinning ear to ear and whispering these words under His breath...

It's a fine, fine life
It's a fine, fine life
Every day I find
It's a fine, fine life.”

Huh, I prayed, remembering my Olds was sitting at home with a slow leak to the back passenger tire, are you trying to tell me something? It’s probably true, you wouldn’t worry yourself over a flat; why in the world then am I?!

I imagined the Lord cool and collected, next to his broke down car, just chatting on his cell phone, as he awaited AAA’s arrival. The thought empowered me. I ran faster, harder.

As I cranked up my jams, and gave way to each deepening breath, I felt like everything in the universe was right. It was even like the trees tap-danced in unison before me. Breezing past each parading branch and with every salutation, I marveled.

Completely overwhelmed at the wonder of God, music and his creation, I finally exclaimed, “Ok, ok, I think I get it! I do, get this. No matter what happens here, no matter what my journey may hold, I have found that in Him, it is indeed a fine, fine life!”
