Just found my motivation...

Friday, April 05, 2013

Lately, I have had this habit of eating junk, but exercising. Or eating well and skipping exercise. It usually seems to be one or the other, which has resulted in zero results.

I know what I have to do to get to where I want to go. I just have to do it.

So I was thinking today about what motivates me. Health, yes. Happiness, of course. An overall sense of wellness, heck yeah. But then I thought: CLOTHES.

Yes, as it shallow as it may be, as silly as it may be, clothes are my motivation. I was filling up my cart on the Old Navy/Banana Republic/Gap websites (they're combined, so you can put stuff from all three places in one cart!), and I didn't like that I was putting in my current size. I was picking out summer clothes. And I still have a couple of months to go before the heat really kicks in here.

Do I want to be the same size in two months?

Um. That's a no.

Now sounds like a really great time to start a streak, right? Right.

I remember a few weeks ago, I did a week of clean eating. Lots of fruits, lots of vegetables, lots of whole grains, and no refined sugar or flour. I felt FANTASTIC that week, and it's crazy that I even stopped doing it. Crazy, I say! So that'll be my streak plan.

All for the sake of clothes. Right now, I just need SOMETHING to hold onto. And smaller sized clothing sounds pretty friggin' good.

I had to look to see what the "motivation" was.... nothing new but I think something we all have in common. My motivation was all the pretty clothes that I already bought when I lost the weight, but I had to pack them away because they didn't fit anymore. I said I will not spend anymore money on clothes when I already have the ones I want to wear and I will not spend another summer just looking at them and wishing I could fit into them. So alas..... great motivation there. And I think I will finally get to wear them in two months!! Good luck to you. I hope you get to purchase some of those things you have waiting for you in your "shopping cart"
