Yesterday I went to my second spin class in as many weeks. It was H-A-R-D. It compares with my first couple of times doing step aerobics, although with step, I had the additional problem of making sure my footwork was correct.
I am not at all conditioned for bike riding. I get through most of my usual workouts with a good sweat and hard breathing, but spinning takes it to another level. I finished my entire water bottle halfway through and needed to go out for more, which I also finished while still on the bike. H-A-R-D! It's a good reminder why doing all sorts of different exercises can be beneficial. I think I rock Zumba and that I'm fit, but this spinning stuff takes me down a notch.
Like last time, I found bike riding kinda boring -- sit and stand, adjust the tension, sit and stand. At least the songs change. The instructor last week was better at giving us actual instructions ("Keep your abs tight", "keep your feet level", "this is a hill-climbing track", etc.), so I'm glad I knew that stuff going in. However, I talked to both instructors after class and the guy this week was better and giving me guidelines on how to adjust the bike.
I was sweating so much I needed to take my glasses off because they were sliding down my nose. I can't see much without them and, feeling like I was DYING, I put them on to turn around to look at the clock. As I was turned back to the face the front of the room again, I saw the instructor laugh. I *knew* he was laughing at me. So when we were talking afterwards, I asked him if that is what he did. He said yes, but because he used to wear glasses and now that he had the Lasik surgery he was a changed man. "That used to be me, taking my glasses on and off," he said. LOL
Good guy; I liked the class and his attitude. I might make this my standard Thursday night class!
