Soda truth

Friday, April 05, 2013

Dominic's challenge is to give up soda today. Yesterday, I spoke to a man who told me what they use to dissolve concrete...cola! (Name brand omitted). They pour the soda over the concrete, let it sit overnight and in the morning Voila! Pretty easy to remove. As a dental hygienist, I see the effects of soda all the time. Acidity and sugar are so destructive! I totally agree wth Dominic! Drink the water!

I received an email a few years ago sharing all the uses for (not naming name brand) cola. One was to remove tar off of streets! Another was to clean toilets. And there was another experiment I vaguely remember being done where someone put their baby tooth in a glass of cola overnight and in the morning it was soft! Yuck! Anyway, I've never tried any of this stuff at home so I cannot confirm or deny it's validity but I think it's pretty safe to say, soda is really BAD for you. I'm with you..give it up and stick with water! emoticon

    * Drinking soda may be bad for your teeth.
* Some soft drinks and juices are hard on the enamel of your teeth.
* Sugar may be hard on your calorie budget and have other undesirable effects on your long-term health.

However, cola, or any other sods IS NOT an effective destructor of concrete.

And, all of the above used infrequently are unlikely to hurt you. You are still obligated to think.

Let's get real folks. emoticon

I am not sure when water became my drink of choice. But I noticed it a few weekends ago, when I opened a diet coke in the morning and still had over half of it left at 3 in the afternoon almost six hours later. However, this week at work there has been soda at my desk. It isn't getting emptied either, and it is there because I grabbed it when I was grabbing my healthy/unhealthy lunch. Need to keep a water bottle at work too.

WTH?!?! I've never heard that! Glad I gave it up years ago - well almost. I still have a diet Dr. Pepper a couple times a week. I used to drink 5-6 cans of coke a day! Water has become my beverage of choice for the most part now. emoticon emoticon

I gave up soda for Lent (I was totally addicted to Diet Coke). After 46 days of no carbonated beverage of any kind, I had it on Easter and it tasted horrible to me! We can re-train our taste buds. It's not easy, but it can be done!!

I picked up my son's cherry 7 up the other day and took a sip ( it looked like my pink grapefruit sparkling water I drink from time to time). I haven't had soda in quite a while and the sugar shock from one sip made me almost gag.mgiving up soda is a great decision! You can do it, Dominic! emoticon
