Most of my blog entries have basically been whining about not losing weight. I'm on vacation right now, and I've been doing a lot of reading...about weight loss, exercise, diet and nutrition, and medication. I've read thing after thing about people on Remeron who can't lose weight not matter how much they exercise and diet. They're all whining, just like me.
Then I found this: katependley.blogspot.com
She was whining (just like me), but hit on some research that I had seen and not connected.
The thing that makes Remeron a miracle for depression and insomnia is the fact that it suppresses cortisol. However, the body needs cortisol to keep insulin in check. If there isn't enough cortisol, the insulin just snatches up every bit of sugar in the blood and stores it as fat. That's why I get these monster carb cravings, that's why if I'm not careful I'll eat like there's no tomorrow, and that's why I'm not losing any weight. My body is out of balance, and everything I eat goes right to my thighs, lower abdomen, and back.
She went on the Zone diet, and had good results. I will have to look this up.
