I read a blog by Coach Dean about rewards, and decided to revamp my system. I had rewards planned but they were scale based. My goal, of staying in my calorie range and exercising 300 minutes a week weren't tied to a reward. My next reward, which is already paid for and booked, is a spa day after I complete the 12 K walk. I had figured that I would be at 10% by then, so that's what I set out as the goal / reward. But I don't want it tied to the scale, and I totally plan on having the SPA day, even if I am not there weight wise. So I revamped the reward system.
My first reward is for the goal of eating within my calorie range, and exercising 300 fitness minutes weekly. When I do this for a month, I will get a mani/pedi. I will use the REPORTS feature to see if I have earned this. I didn't for March, and looking back on the monthly reports, I ate over my range more days than not. This is why my weight loss has stalled. I will check the reports for April the weekend of the 12K and add a spa pedi to the menu of that reward if I stay within the range, and earn the fitness minutes. Reports is really neat, and you can set the time frame so I can check in weekly.
The second goal behavior is to not eat out or buy Starbucks. It's healthier to eat at home. So, I will start each week with a $40 allowance. IF I don't spend it, It goes into the reward jar. I'm saving up for a new ARIA Scale but I could always use the reward money for something fun, like flowers or a new pair of boots.
