A little kindness can go a long way

Thursday, April 04, 2013

The other day, a lady who had spent the night scared, trying to sleep in the park while watching out for predators, called me over to give me a hug. She said she felt I needed one. And you know what? I did. That hug went a long way for me that day. I really appreciated her kindness.
Being the recipient of another kindess caused me to reflect today how much it lifted my spirits and "lightened my load." It wasn't what one might consider a " big thing," didn't take the giver a lot of time, but for me it made a difference in my day. While planning on writing this blog, I read Brooklyn Born's blog on her giving away two heart monitors. She wasn't using them, didn't plan to, so she passed them on. Who knows what a difference this might make to someone else. I'm just betting it makes the day for the ones who receive them. And hence my title, " A little kindess can go a long way."

Good reminder about taking time to engage with those around us. It is so true that little things or acts of kindness really do pick up our day and can provide the "warm fuzzy" that lifts our mood, or spirits, or heart.

Sometimes we just need to "look up" and see the unexpected kindness that God gives us through others. ...and we need to do that for those around us.

Thanks for the shout out. I'm reading this late. I had a very introspective day yesterday.

Small acts of kindness do so much good to both the giver and receiver! Thanks for sharing that!

So true!!! I am so thankful for all of the kindness that has been showered my way. It was probably nothing big on the other person's part, but it was HUGE in my life! I need to start actively looking for more ways to bless others. Thank you for this reminder!
