Kinda frustrated

Thursday, April 04, 2013

So I've been really hitting the gym...and watching what I eat, but I've seen very little progress thus far. I don't have a scale...but I really feel as if it's not moving. I am contemplating doing some detox stuff (juicing and baths) ; but I think maybe I just need to give it a little time. I DID spend most of the winter being quite sedentary.

Still - It's hard. I'm sick of pictures on social networking that highlight my double chin.

Brenn, you need to give yourself a real way to evaluate how you're doing - looking at photos isn't a good metric because most of us are really good at seeing our own flaws. If you don't have a scale take the other measurements on the Weight Tracking page. You don't even need a real tape measure, use anything non-stretchy that will go around your largest part - a belt, the tie from a robe, a piece of string or clothesline... Mark your measurement on it and set it aside; in two weeks or longer (less will just be discouraging) go back and wrap it around yourself again. Every quarter inch of extra overlap is progress!

Consistency is the biggest thing. It's not ALL about the chin (though it is clearly an important part of your motivation). You must be thinking a little about how good that 5K felt last summer, and other things you want to get back to. Share some focus on those, let that FB photo have some competition for your attention!

YOU CAN DO THIS! emoticon
