Thursday, April 4

Thursday, April 04, 2013, gray, damp here. Beginning to get my bearings after Annual vaccinations for the ponies and cat. First...I see the Vet driving through the gate...then swerve off the Mom nearly takes him out with the electric gate...she calls and apologises..thanks. Then I explain that one of my four ponies actually is easy to work with. Bright was pleasant enough til the for three injections...stick, pony rears, I push in the vaccine and hand the syringe back to the Vet. Charlie, rolls his eyes, bunches up...stick...wait a minute while he gets a little catatonic ...Vet is able to push in vaccine and remove syringe. Captain...piece of fact I think he was looking for a piece of cake...Lady...flinches with each stick but stands...the Cat, Disney...point him away from activity on a higher surface...give injections, release and hiss...rush off.
This is a young veterinarian who has taken over his grandfather's practice and I really like. His grandfather passed away last year having never retired even with advancing age and post stroke. I think we will get along well.
Other than that..Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom for breakfast and snacked on mixed nuts...not wise but wanted something "quick, comforting". My sister is on the phone in Germany...back from a jaunt to Israel...should be interesting but glad mother is talking to her right now...I need the down time.

Lol, I love the description of the vet visit. I think I'd be like your mom, if I had one of those cool electric gates!

Captain sounds like a great horse. Glad the new vet is working out!

Our cats don't like injections, either. Is there anyone (human or animal) that actually likes being stuck with needles? I seriously hope not. ;)

Yep! Vaccine time here, too! New vets for us, too! We moved the horses 2 hours from their old spot and our vet doesn't make the trip.

I've used the girls vet twice...but....not feeling it.

I hear ya on the down time....for sure.
