The Melody of the Birds

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Spring is here:::.....the Texas emoticon is gorgeous, flowers are in bloom everywhere, and we even had lots of emoticon yesterday (much needed )!

One of my favorite arrivals in springtime is the large variety of birds that migrate to the south, and their lovely choir of voices!
My spirits are lifted every time I am still, and listen to their music.

On a more sober note: emoticon

...:::a bit about me: On Tuesday evening, I was racking up those LCW fitness minutes.....shooting for 60 when I "tweaked" my knee. emoticon I have no idea how this happened as I was just doing low impact aerobics with excellent running shoes on. Looking back, I cannot figure it out.
I am ever so careful when I exercise.....::::having learned the hard way a few years ago when as a beginner runner, I ran too long/fast....ending up with a mild case of shin splints ( lasted only 2 weeks ) but I'll never forget it. Lol! I used to be even more of a crazy fitness addict than I am now. ( a too much - too soon - kinda gal )
I think I've gained wisdom...LOL!

Anyhow, the next day after a good night's rest, my knee felt fine. I gave it a day of rest, then I went to the gym last night, and paced myself with my hour circuit training routine ( omitting the lower body ST just to be safe ) with jogging between sets instead of my usual sprints.
I felt Great! However, last night, once again I felt a sore spot behind my pain, only sore almost as if it were bruised. Again, I have no pain, just a weird bruised sensation behind my knee.

So, for the time being, I have decided to walk/jog, enjoy the elliptical, and ST lightly until I am sure my knee is perfectly fine.

I found this article interesting:::...

emoticon Anyone have a similar experience? ...::or might be able to share some wisdom on the subject?

Now, I'm off to enjoy this beautiful day with my children.... emoticon

So sorry to hear about your knee. I can not give you any advice based on experience. I do protect my knees at all costs but injuries can happen even with the best provention. I injured my IT band (left side) and have no idea how that happened. I am in Physical Therapy again and making good progress. I hope that your knee does well. Hang in there.

We loved seeing all of the wild flowers while we were in Texas. The Bluebonnets, Indian Paint Brush and Buttercups were amazing. It was a great time to be in Texas!

Take care and keep us posted on how your knee is doing.

Oh, dear friend, I am so sorry your knee is hurting. I have experienced this pain often, especially after my injury. I tend to notice it flares up if I am not taking the time to stretch properly/sufficiently before and especially after a workout. Do you have a band to help you stretch your lower body?
Praying you heal quickly.
I am loving the birds & beautiful spring weather, also! emoticon emoticon

So glad you are enjoying beautiful weather! Wish we could get some rain in this part of Texas, but very unlikely. Sorry to hear about your knee. Just take it a little easier for a while. I'm sure it will get better. emoticon

Very interesting article! Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I did not know about that muscle.

I pray that your knee heals quickly. Resting it is so important. I had miniscus pain for 6 months and surgery was likely, but then I had bronchitis and sinus infection for 3 + weeks in December & January and I was so sick, I had to just lie around. Even after that, I got back into exercising very gradually. By God's mercy, that complete rest allowed my knee to heal. Praises to God, I am pain free.

I am having minor issues on my left leg behind my knee. I just have been not running as much until it feels normal once again. Praying for your body to heal quickly!

emoticon you are experiencing this soreness. I've not had this happen but my sister did and long story short....she had to have 2 surgeries. Last one replaced the knee. BE CAREFUL! Let it heal and maybe just sure to stretch but that too can cause problems. Enjoy your day!!!
