5k Test Run

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I was able to run my 5K outside today as the weather was decent enough- FINALLY!! It was my 1st time taking it outdoors (& off the treadmill) this season. My 5k is next weekend so I was starting to panic. I finished it in under 40 mins which I am happy with because I did slow to a walk a few times. It takes a lot to adjust to outdoor running. The wind was so cold and I still have a lingering chest cold. Stupid me went out in only a t-shirt (plus pants of course-lol!) Anyway I have definitely improved my running (jogging) speed to approx 4.8-5.0 mph which makes me very happy. Also I had no issues with my hand falling asleep. Hopefully I can try again at least 1-2 more times before my official 5k on Sunday. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Also please keep my kitty in your thoughts- he is in surgery today! Thank you! emoticon

Kudos on doing a 5K! I haven't done one yet. I've always preferred running outdoors but going to the gym has become more convenient. One thing I always noticed is that once I run outdoors repeatedly for a week or two, the treadmill becomes easier! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Really, really impressed with your run time. I cannot run for more than a min or two before I have to walk so I am so proud of you and you should be really proud of yourself. You have really improved!

Also took a min to say a prayer for you, your kitty, and the vet doing the surgery. Hope it all works out ok. I know you are worried.

So glad to hear that you are not running around without your pants! emoticon Wish I could say the same for my 6 year old. lol

Wow! I am so impressed!!! I still can't run more than one or two minutes at a time! Hoping that C25K training will help! Good luck on your emoticon Sunday! I am signed up for another one on the Saturday after that! I'm hoping that I can run part of it by then!
