Today's holiday, vitamin C day

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Go ahead, just google holidays for a particular day any you'll come up with some odd things, but today's seems like common sense.

Today is Vitamin C day.

You can get vitamin C from many sources. The orange may be the most obvious one, but there are many more. Some of the highest sources of vitamin C are cantaloupe, kiwis, mangos, papaya, pineapple, strawberries and watermelon. Vitamin C is not only in fruits, but many vegetables also such as broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, green and red peppers, spinach and other dark leafy greens, sweet and white potatoes and winter squash. You may also be able to find it fortified in cereals.

Vitamin C is great for repairing your body. It helps form a protein that is used to make skin, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. It's great for healing wounds. It's great for teeth! Vitamin C is a great antioxidant. The body does not store vitamin C and can not make it on it's own, so make sure you're eating plenty of foods that contain the vitamin.

How are you getting your vitamin C today?

Been getting lots of it via oranges, strawberries and broccoli, plus supplements - trying to fight off all the nasty colds going around!

Wow, we seem to miss out on a lot of these special days here in the UK.
I love kiwis and today I had curried cauliflower for lunch at work. I love eating cauliflower and broccoli raw too.

You left out one of my favorites which is tomatoes.
I was thinking about you the last couple of days and today another sparkfriend talked about a subject you frequently cover which is excuses. Between the two of you I am rethinking excuses and my steps are jumping to a better place. I enjoy your blogs because they make me think and you cover subjects that I relate to. Hoping you are getting over your cold and hopfully you are getting out and enjoying the park. emoticon
