Biking update

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Recall, that these are my summer goals:

1.) Ride a metric century (62 miles) in a day.
2.) Ride 100 miles in a weekend.
3.) Ride 1000 miles in the season.

The weather has been on and off so far, but we have managed to get in 3 rides.
Sat March 23 - 27 miles. A beautiful day. Then it snowed the next day.
Sat March 30 - 34 miles. Also nice. Easter day was kinda rainy.
Wed April 3 - 20 miles. First time we were able to ride in the evening. A little chilly, but ok.

So we have a total of 81 miles so far, toward goal #3!

We also have a trip planned to Petosky, MI in June, that will be for biking. They have a trail along the lake there that goes for 26 miles (so 52 when we ride out and back). So we are ramping up for our trip so we can enjoy and complete that trail.

Just a few notes that I wanted to make too.
We have been these bikes for several years. The normal approach is that he leads, and I try to keep up, probably about 1/4 mile behind. This year, so far, it seems different. I am in the lead much more, and I can see that my average speed is faster than it used to be. I think that the weight loss, exercise in general, walking (endurance), and running training (cardiovascular) are showing through.

Disappointed not to ride my bike this weekend due to it being too windy.
