Trip to Sarasota

Thursday, April 04, 2013

We had a delightful trip to Sarasota

What a great day!! We arrived at lunchtime so found O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill on the Bay.

I had thought I could get my sister to go out in a kayak, but it was way too windy for a first timer.

We had a delightful lunch. A sign said, "Don't Feed the Seagulls." I had no intention of giving anyone any part of my lunch, but a pesky seagull had other ideas. It grabbed a curly fry right out of my basket on the wing, while I was cutting a piece of my burger. I think it was just trying to keep me on my food plan, because I threw the rest of my fries on the ground.

I know. Don't feed the seagulls.

I was once again a kid in the candy shop. Mom bought 1 bottle of oregano at Penzeys Spices. She started going on about how much I had spent. I finally asked her how much she thought I had spent. $50 was her estimate. She was never any good at geography either.

It will be nice to have this gloomy day outdoors so I can put away the herbs and spices, and all the bulk goods I bought at Whole Foods. And maybe even plan some new recipes and menus featuring all the new aromas and tastes.

Adobo and Ancho Chili Peppers will get used first in an anti-angiogenic Lentil Chili Stew. I have no clue how much of either to use. I'll have to study this in the waiting room, because I need to get out into that going-to-work traffic.

Stew sounds yummy. Don't forget that hot foods get hotter if you let them sit.

I am trying all of these things too but they are all too hot for me.

I have a great book from the library but I need one of my own to highlight It has really bad title. "You on a SLIMMER DIET"
It is exciting to read about Serotonin , GABA and melatonin. All explained for me. Only problem is how to tolerate even the heat of regular Ginger or peppermint.
I bought Capsaicin in capsules. I would prefer to eat in though. Well done. Breakfast was good exercise is hard today. I feel a bit off my stroke. It is way too cold for this old body. Pat emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
