Little Changes

Every day, rather cloudy, sunny or cold, my friend goes out twice a day and walks our parking lots at the office. She's not gone a terribly long time, but she gets a walk in. She gets out of the office, takes a mental vacation, and gets some steps in. I've been watching her do this for a very long while. She's faithful to her routine.

This week, I started getting up and walking the parking lots too. Walking them has been liberating! Sometimes, the day has been just about to spin out of control. But taking those 10 minutes to walk has kept the world on it's axis. It's been wonderful to walk back in and have my head clear and ready to tackle the work at hand. My pedometer has enjoyed the nice hit it's taken too!

I talked with Sherry and thanked her for the inspiration, telling her I'd taken a page from her book and appreciated her being such a faithful role model. Friends really are grand! It was so nice to acknowledge her for her contribution to my fitness!

I think I'm on to something with the addition of my work day walking as well as my afternoon walking plan! My future self is going to emoticon me!
