I don't want to jinx us here or anything, but spring may've begun... well, springing. At last.
Son-of-Joe-the-Greenfinch* has returned to the bedroom window; when I got up this morning it was so daylight I didn't need to turn on any lights; and the AM temperature at daybreak was (just) above freezing. I'll take what I can get.
*Some of you may recall my misadventures with a greenfinch who persisted in tapping and flying at our bedroom window each morning - which would be fine, except at this latitude, the sun rises at 6:30. That's not too bad, although my alarm is set for 6:45. But this time of year the hours of daylight shift rapidly, and in just a few weeks the sun will rise at 5:30 AM. Now, there have been plenty of times in my life that I rose at 6, or 5, or (for two memorable years) even 4 AM. Not no more: I am officially retired. The original Joe kept up the morning ritual for nearly two months. Last year, he - or his offspring - kept at it until nearly mid-June. Sunrise in mid-June is around 4:40. It doesn't bear contemplation.
Verb day: Thursdays are grocery days, and I have about half the house dusted 'n' done, so between today and tomorrow I'll have the other half in shape. Then - we wait.
If I won a (megahuge) lottery, I think I would give the place away, and get rid of the aggravation as well. Since I don't play any lotteries, it's not likely to happen, though, lol...
Have a good'un, Sparklers - carpe diem!
