Climbing those hills!

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

It was another fun afternoon in the beautiful hills of Marin, California. This time we hiked up to a waterfall, not a huge one, but the walk was uphill and my legs and heart are used to the flat country of Holland. So I had to stop a few times to catch my breath. It was worth it and it just felt so good getting there and sitting on a rock, watching the water cascade down. Next time I am taking my granddaughters with us! They have spring break next week, I'm really looking forward to spending more time with them; at the moment it's school and homework.

After our hike, my stepdaughter and I started lifting arm weights under the guidance of one of the guys in the family who is a body builder. He almost burst out laughing when I pulled out the 3 and 5 pound weights but a girl has to start somewhere! To his credit, once he got over his amusement, he took his time and showed us exactly what to do. It's kind of fun having a live- in trainer!
So I am enjoying myself, am very active and am losing weight. All the things I was worried about at home have not happened, in fact I am way more active here than in Holland. It's something about those California hills and sunshine that beckon I guess.

Hope everyone is having a good week! emoticon emoticon

LOVED the image of the weightlifter and his impression of OUR 3# and 5# weights! And I'm thrilled for you that none of your fears of backsliding or losing momentum have materialized. We're headed north on Friday to visit family, and I'm facing those same fears. Your experience gives me hope!

Glad you are enjoying yourself and getting all that exercise. Change is good!
I can't wait to get over on the coast to visit the kids. We have lots of forest trails we plan to explore. That will be a nice break from walking the roads in our neighborhood and walking in circles on the asphalt trails in the parks in town.
