I had a pretty crappy workout tonight. I did my C25K program and my heart rate was at the max. More disturbing, it wouldn't come back down during walking periods. I mean, yes it decreased, but was still at 85%. That is unusual. I had plenty of time for it to come down to 70%. After C25K, I didn't have the "heart" to do anything else.
On top of that, it's been an emotional day. So, driving home, all I could think about is the Maple Leaf Creams on top of my refrigerator. Calculating how many I can eat and still not "gain" weight. I think Maple Leaf Creams may very well be the solution to the world's problems. But I ultimately decided I'd have to sit with my thoughts and emotions without the help of the good ol' MLC's.
Instead of gorging on absolutely useless calories, I made some "Healthy Cookies". I've been eyeing the recipe for a few weeks now. Three simple ingredients: two brown bananas--ok, mine were black--, a cup of quick oats and 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts. Each cookie is 1 Tbsp of "dough". A serving is two cookies and Calories: 93 • Fat: 3.5 g • Carb: 15 g • Fiber: 2 g • Protein: 2 g • Sugar: 4.5 g. (See Skinnytaste.com for full recipe).
They cook for 15 min at 350. I baked them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
They were ...Eh. Certainly not the yummy and nutritionally devoid Maple Leaf Creams. The cat liked them, though. Little thief. Hmmmm. One less that I'll have to feel guilty about not eating. Thank you cat.
I made some rolled oat oatmeal too. It's in the fridge cooling, to be used in a breakfast smoothie tomorrow.
