Heart rate Irritation

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

I had a pretty crappy workout tonight. I did my C25K program and my heart rate was at the max. More disturbing, it wouldn't come back down during walking periods. I mean, yes it decreased, but was still at 85%. That is unusual. I had plenty of time for it to come down to 70%. After C25K, I didn't have the "heart" to do anything else.

On top of that, it's been an emotional day. So, driving home, all I could think about is the Maple Leaf Creams on top of my refrigerator. Calculating how many I can eat and still not "gain" weight. I think Maple Leaf Creams may very well be the solution to the world's problems. But I ultimately decided I'd have to sit with my thoughts and emotions without the help of the good ol' MLC's.

Instead of gorging on absolutely useless calories, I made some "Healthy Cookies". I've been eyeing the recipe for a few weeks now. Three simple ingredients: two brown bananas--ok, mine were black--, a cup of quick oats and 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts. Each cookie is 1 Tbsp of "dough". A serving is two cookies and Calories: 93 • Fat: 3.5 g • Carb: 15 g • Fiber: 2 g • Protein: 2 g • Sugar: 4.5 g. (See Skinnytaste.com for full recipe).
They cook for 15 min at 350. I baked them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

They were ...Eh. Certainly not the yummy and nutritionally devoid Maple Leaf Creams. The cat liked them, though. Little thief. Hmmmm. One less that I'll have to feel guilty about not eating. Thank you cat.

I made some rolled oat oatmeal too. It's in the fridge cooling, to be used in a breakfast smoothie tomorrow.

MLCs = 0 Me = 1

MLC's look delish. Wise choice on avoiding them. You did wonderful! Take care of yourself. Breath and take time just for you. Sounds like you are making excellent choices. Be proud!

I looked up Maple Leaf Creams cookies. They are attractive little creatures.

Maple Leaf Creams clueless probably should remain that way. How were you monitoring heart rate? Is it possible it was a machine error? Just stay safe.

Good job on overcoming temptaqtion. I can't have sweets in the house or I will succumb, so I throw out anything that comes into the house but is not on my program.

Yay! So even if the cookies were a bust, they still distracted you enough to keep you away from the Maple Leaf Creams, so still a win, right?

I've had a rough week with workouts as well. They've been a bit of a struggle and it feels like I'm making a lot more effort in my target heart range than I have been. Hopefully it's just temporary and you'll rock your next workout!

Good job ignoring the MLC's, that's hard to do! The Starburst jellybeans got ahold of me... As for your heart rate, I'd definitely talk to you doc, unless this is "normal" for you.

I do hope you are waking up to a better day, one in which you have 'sat in your thoughts' until they become clear and no longer tempted you to turn to MLCs.
Wish I knew something about the heart rate thing. At least you are keeping track of it. I have no idea what heart rate I ever function at. Unless, "I might pass out" is a heart rate during exercise. j/k.

Your continued fighting of the good fight inspires me each day.

Fantastic job of not letting the Maple Creams get the best of you!!! As far as Skinnytaste.com... I LOVE her website! I made her Italian Sloppy Joes (only 3 WW points for me and they were soooo good) :)

As far as the heart rate thing goes, if it keeps doing that, you will want to go to your dr. and find out if there is any abnormality in that.

Keep doing what you are doing! Onederland is very near. Nothing tastes as good as that feels! :)

Sounds like you did a pretty great job! I don't know what Maple Leaf Creams are but I also don't want to find out because I don't need to know if they are that good! The heart rate thing is a little strange. Hopefully it doesn't keep happening!
