Enjoying a 'spark' of past cycling days.

The days here are getting warmer, and the weather is getting nicer. It means that I have the ability to finally get in more than just the ocasional bike ride. Now that I'm finished with all my other obligations, I'm getting more focused on getting back into great shape. For me, that means a lot more time outside on my bikes.
It was absolutely gorgeous yesterday - I had to get out and do at least a short ride. I decided to go out into the wind, so that I would have a nice tail wind on the way back. I didn't expect to be able to maintain a real fast speed - as I have only been on a couple of rides this year. So I was really pleased that I was able to maintain a real good pace for my entire ride back (about six miles). At one point, I was even able to get my speed up to about 24 mph - something I haven't done since last riding season.
When it's safe to do so, I absolutely love riding fast - there's nothing like riding with (and like) the wind. So riding fast like I did yesterday gives me more motivation to get out again as soon as I can.
