Paleo Day 2/30

Soooo....

yesterday went pretty well. I managed to eat 100% Paleo all day, on my first day. Go me!

I noticed that when I ate, no matter how much was on my plate or in my bowl, I never felt over-full. Often when I eat "normal", especially after dinner, I'll feel like I ate too much or I'll have a heavy feeling in my tummy. Last night, I made a spicy Thai coconut chicken dish which is very much a dish I usually make, only this time I did not serve it over rice. It ended up being more of a soup this way but it was still delicious. I was amazed at how I felt after spooning up the last bits: content but not stuffed. Despite it being a pretty generous serving of liquid and vegetables and chicken.

I noticed a similar feeling after my lunch of chicken lettuce wraps. Interesting...

I got hungry a little between meals but ate bananas and apples. Not bad.

This morning I woke up hungry! I went to my workout and came home to shower and prep my meals for the day before work.

Breakfast today:
3oz sausage patty
2 eggs, scrambled with herbs
1/2 sweet potato, boiled, and seasoned with butter

It was SO good! And fast! And easy to take to work!

Lunch was originally:
1/2 an avocado
A few oz turkey breast
Green leaf lettuce leaves
An orange
The other half of the morning sweet potato

But, a coworker/friend wanted to meet for lunch. We are always trying to meet up and rarely make it work so I didn't want to miss my chance. Since we ate in the restaurant of our building, I took it as a good time to test my "eating out on Paleo" skills. I ended up with:
1 small balsamic chicken breast with a tomato "bruschetta" topping
1 serving of steamed broccoli
1 serving of steamed carrots
Added salt, pepper, and butter to the veggies.
Successes: did not eat the polenta that was served under the chicken and also said "no thank you" when offered a roll. Yay!

Felt a little hungrier today. Ate an apple and an orange as afternoon snacks. Got home from work a little bit ago and really feeling the munchies. Normally I would take a cookie from the freezer or have a small handful of tortilla chips, or something like that. Instead, I ate ANOTHER banana. To be honest, I'm craving some stuff "of substance" aka a nice crusty piece of bread! Or, a chip! Or, something! I may have to go raid the walnut bag...

Tummy still wants more! :)

Have ground turkey defrosting and trying to figure out the rest. Tonight is my first Paleo dinner with the hubs, which means I have to get creative so that neither of us feel deprived (he is NOT trying the Paleo thing).

Things could get interesting. I'm determined not to break my streak yet, but I am not really sure how long I can make it last perfectly given the obstacles.
