Friday...the BIG day...

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

I will be going to St. Louis Friday to be a key speaker at a supervisory seminar and am pretty nervous. I know the material that I'll be talking about, but will be speaking to a large room of people...behind a podium and into a microphone. That's what has me nervous. This is only my second time doing this. My first time was with a small group of people and I didn't need to use a microphone.
I just need to keep telling myself that I can do this!
Thanks for reading and cheering me on, if you do.

I know public speaking can be hard, but there are lots of tricks and tips you can use to get through it. Knowing your speech or the topic is the first one because the more comfortable you are saying the speech the easier it is. Second that I suggest is to familiarize yourself with the area (if you can) where you'll be speaking. Go into the room ahead of time when no one is around or few people and just stand there and get used to being up at the podium with the microphone. I know you're going to do a fantastic job! Keep up the wonderful work!

Focus on a point just above head height on the back wall, smile and speak slowly....and breathe! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

They all want you to do well. They're all urging you on. Take courage, you will be fine.

A little nervousness is to be expected, I think you're excited at the challenge too.

You will be fine - if you can speak in front of a small group, you can do it in front of a large one!

Go in with confidence. The first couple of minutes are always the worst!
