I have a beautiful suit that my aunt bought for me when I was on the job market. I only wore it once: to my first interview. It was not a good interview, and I did not get the offer. I didn't wear it on my other two interviews (in which I did get offers). Today I wore the jacket to the suit, for a special event at the college.
As I walked into one seminar, a colleague remarked that I was wearing a suit jacket. I told him it was the first time I've worn a suit since I was on the market and that the interview I wore it on didn't go well, so I wonder if it's bad luck.
After the talk, I picked up my computer bag, and oops - I had forgotten to zip it and MY COLLEGE LAPTOP FELL OUT and hit the floor. And the plastic around the screen cracked and popped off, it got dented, etc... It still works. I took it to IT, and they popped stuff back into place... hopefully it will be fine after this.
Our super awesome IT person said, "Maybe you should get rid of that jacket!" But it's sooooo cute... maybe I should get a young priest and an old priest... ;)
Here is a picture of me from today (wearing the bad luck jacket!):
To tell you the truth, I don't think I've lost weight, but I think I'm looking a lot better. Another colleague of mine at lunch today asked me how weight lifting is going (I run into her at the Y when she goes to swim in the mornings) and I told her it's going well. She asked to squeeze my arm so I made a muscle, and she said that other people tell her that she has big muscles, and mine are almost the same size as her's (she was an Olympic swimmer in her younger years, so I take that as a BIG compliment!).
And you know what... they are bigger. And so are my quads. I can feel them stick out when I flex them. I think tomorrow I'm going to weigh myself so I can measure my body fat and lean body mass again. And it's also April so it's time to take my measurements of my waist, hips, etc... I'll take pictures and measurements again at the end of Stage 1 of the weight training program. That will be at the conclusion of 6 weeks. Hopefully I'll see some changes.
I'm a little nervous though, because I have been eating a bit of non-veg and fruit carbs here and there (I had a roll at lunch today), and I've been eating some easter candy... and I just came back from the in-laws where the bread and sweets are plenty. I know I'm turning the energy into muscle, but it's still a little scary.
