1st big food challenge

My husband and I are going out to eat for the first time since I started tracking my food. When he first suggested dinner at our fave BBQ place I was immediately anxious about being able to stay within my calorie range. I've never worried about calories when diving into a basket of my fave deep fried pickles and wings. But I am determined to stay on track! I looked at the menu online and i think I will be ordering the fajita salad (ignoring the edible bowl-which I usually did anyway) with cheese and dressing on the side. My indulgence, will be a single serving of cornbread. The last thing I want is all my hard work at the gym to go down the drain. How do you deal with staying on track when you go out to eat?

    I always check out the menu and nutritional info on-line before I go. I also try to split items with others. That way there is less calories, but more choices.

    I usually get something I want and just not eat it all... save some for another time and also make sure I order the lunch size not dinner size. I get my fix and do not damage the goals!

    First, I realize that I have to learn to eat out and my husband deserves to enjoy eating out with me. It's only one meal and you don't have to make it more than that. In other words, enjoy and then continue on your plan after that.

I usually order something on the healthier side but something I will enjoy. I think the biggest trick is to eat the right portion size since restaurants serve so much more than we need. I usually eat about half my meal and bring the other half home.

I think your plan sounds good. Just be sure to have fun! emoticon

    I make sure that I am not hungry. I drink a tall glass of water with a teaspoon each of Psyllium Husks and Chia seeds. This is quite filling but one needs to get used to it. I drink it every day to combat chronic constipation. The Chia holds onto the water and keeps me hydrated. Please read up on this. You will be so glad you did.
