I finally was able to "unthink" my doubts

Saturday was my first official outdoor run of the year. I have been putting plenty of miles on the treadmill but haven't ventured outside. I had signed up for a 5K race so had no choice but to brave the 35 degree temperature and wind and head out the door for the run.
I am always a little nervous before the run starts and this one was no different. I start off the race well but usually start to have my doubts about whether or not I can actually RUN the entire 3.1 miles. I would probably do better if I would just not look at the mile markers at every 1/4 mile. Usually by about mile 2, I tell myself I am getting too winded and should probably walk for awhile. NOT TODAY though....I got to mile 2 and was feeling pretty confident that I COULD finish the entire run. At 2.5 miles I KNEW I could do it. I was actually able to SPRINT my way across the finish line. I finished in 31 minutes and 8 seconds.
I don't think I have ever been so proud of myself. I put my self-doubt behind me and was able to succeed. Now that I have this new-found confidence in myself...who knows what my next major accomplishment will be!! :)
