Biggest Loser Ideas

OK so I have 6 people signed up for my biggest loser contest. I really want to make it successful because I love the people that I work with and I want them all to be healthy. I am coming up with some ideas on how to make it the best contest ever. I am going to send daily emails with a tip of the day- challenge of the day (little things like eat 5 veggies or drink 8 glasses of water) and a link to articles that I think might help. (I know most of it will come from here since this is where I was educated) I also want to come up with weekly challenges (for example record how many steps you take and the person who walks the most gets... whatever). But I need more ideas. We have 9 weeks left of school so I need 9 challenges.... anyone want to help?

We did something like this at the first school I was at. Each month was a different challenge, in your case it would be week. They kept track on a calendar, so you could like send out a week calendar for them to track the challenge for that week. They did:
-Water Challenge - 8 glasses of water
-Fruit and Veggie Challenge - 5 fruits and veggies
-Walking Challenge - 10000 steps (had free pedometers from Subway, they also have them at our dollar store)
-Get Moving Challenge - 30 minutes of exercise 5 days of the week
-Cut the Sugar Challenge - no sweets (candy, soda)
-Whole grain Challenge - choose whole grain over white
-Shut-eye Challenge - 8 hours of sleep
-Relax Challenge - Do something each day to unwind/relax (could be "me time" - reading, yoga, bubble bath, meditation, etc.)
-For the last week we picked something we personally wanted to work on, whether it was something else, or one of the same challenges from previous weeks.
They had little prizes for those that had completed the weekly challenge - water bottle, gym bag, bubble bath, etc.
Hopefully this helps!!! Goal - Have them continue with previous challenges the other weeks as well!! (that's the ultimate goal at least - form healthy habits!)

How about keeping daily logs- the person who turns in completed log (food, exercise or both) for the week wins.
I don't know if this would work for your group, but similar to the biggest loser- they have the reward challenge each week in which the winner wins whatever ( maybe you could give a healthy recipe booklet or something as a prize)- have an obstacle course set up (can be physical or mental or both) and whoever completes each task in the quickest time wins. You could spread this out over the course of a week if needed. Make index cards with pictures of foods or recipes and have them choose which has the most calories or fat contents. A physical challenge could be moving objects between points a & b, start with small weights and then increase them each time- do a specific amount of reps for each weight.
