It occurred to me today that I've passed ten years since I decided to make a change for the better and get fit.
I re-joined Victory Fitness on March 26, 2003.
It seems like forever ago, yet not so far afield. My goal is not to forget what it took to get me to this point (five and a half years of maintenance!) and not to assume that what worked for me will work for everyone.
What I wish I'd known then (but I know now):
1. Weight loss is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition. You can never outrun a bad diet (but boy, did I try!)
2. The balance of cardio to weight training will vary as you lose weight and plateaus are busted with IRON!
3. You CAN, however, run away your problems - or yoga them away. The mind-body connection is more powerful than an Olympic weightlifter's quads.
Hope you all are gearing up for a lovely weekend. Concert on Thursday (mosh pit!!!), the Wex on Friday AND Saturday, outdoor yoga on Saturday, and maybe relaxation on Sunday.
