Sooo Sedentary!

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Despite my splurges of exercise I continue to be more sedentary than I realized. Thanks to fitbit, I now know that I burn far fewer calories both at rest and at exercise than I thought. No wonder the weight has been so stubborn. Even on very active days the calorie burn is disappointing. Now that I've cut back calories further than recommended in my plan, I'm finally seeing results. But, slipping up usually shows up quickly on the scale. Each day I now make more effort to move at every opportunity. Maybe these last 10-15 pounds will actually jump off. Have a great day everyone!

Be careful cutting calories under 1200 will send your body into fat storing mode and stop the weight loss. If you are mobility impaired their is a whole center for that on Spark
Spark's Limited Mobility Lifestyle Center

You will need to copy and past the link in your browser address window.
The chair exercise team is very active and helpful and has lots of great ways to exercise with mobility issues. I am in a wheelchair for example and a member of that team, but starting gently and moving along I have gotten from 10 steps at a time to 540 steps at a time and 30 minutes of other exercise in a regular chair or bed in sets of 15 minutes starting from 5 minutes. emoticon Nice blog

I don't know if one has to work harder, or just more often, in combination with food choices and amounts.Sounds like your Fitbit is helping see the true pic. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Don't cut too much or you will be disappointed when your body resists. Good luck.

Why not join in the challenge at our team 55+ females-it is called 30 min. everyday your way! You can post it on the thread there and just keep moving! It will be fun! I have joined! Good to meet you!
It takes time to make those changes and doing what we need to do to lose the pounds! Find something you love to do and just keep at it. I just started riding bikes for the first time in 15 years! And the pounds are coming off! emoticon emoticon
I noticed after I posted this of your health issues-have you even looked into chair exercise. I am not sure what your mobility challenges are, but I do have fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis and I got started with chair exercises (SP had many of them and so does youtube) and still continue to this day with them, due to bad knees.
The fitbit will help you see how good they are for you-they do have some good ones out there. Good luck! Never give up!

    Do not overdo it, though.
Lots of gentle exercise might be better.
