National Walking Day

Today is national walking day. So get out and walk. Walking is great for your heart. It's low impact and you can take it at any pace you want. They say to do 30 minutes a day at least, but don't forget that you can take it in 10 minute blocks.

Take the time to walk when you'd normally drive. Take that walk at lunch. Take the walk after dinner, it is getting warmer and sunnier! No matter what you do today, make sure to get some walking done!

I'll be walking up to the school today, but that is my normal Wednesday routine. Perhaps I'll get the family out after dinner today too!

    Today I walked to the store and back. A distance of about a mile and a half. Had to go buy the "magic shampoo" that keeps my hair blond! emoticon

    We don't have National Walking Day here but I do try to get on the treadmill each day before work, and, when eventually the better weather arrives here, love to go for a walk with DH at the weekends.

    Yay! I tried recruiting teachers for our lunch time writing club under this premise....didn't work. Maybe we need a National Walking Month!

    Thanks for the great link. I 'celebrated' yesterday without even knowing it. Wednesday is usually my rest day, but I walked to the post office (5 mi roundtrip) at a leisurely pace to enjoy the good weather.

    I heard on the radio this morning that is National Walking Day. I plan to walk after work with my dog. I was hoping it would be a little warmer, but will have to dress warmer and cut my walk a bit shorter!

    I walked it out this morning. And I walked/jogged for C25K at lunch. And I am going for a bike ride this evening (ok, not walking, but still).

    I have walked all my life, to school all the way through college, for errands whenever I could, and now daily either outdoors or on a treadmill for my heart. I'm not a really fast walker (I have short legs) but I walk hills on a regular basis. I also use it as a stress reducer. If I'm upset or anxious I go for a walk, particularly a walk outdoors.
