Today marks 3 years since our first male greyhound, Gator, crossed the rainbow bridge. Thankfully the pain of losing him has gotten easier as the time has passed, and we know that he is truly having a better and pain free life. I sometimes have visions of him being with my mom.

He was a 90 lb+ boy, a great racer, but a cuddle bunny! His last few days on earth 3 years ago were tough, but we learned so much from him. 3 months after he passed, we adopted Tomas, and much like Gator, is a big goofy boy!

So Gator, if you can read my blog (and I bet you can!), we love you, we miss you, and say hi to mom for me!

Won't it be a wonderful day when we're reunited with our family, friends and pets? Keep the happy memories of the time you two had together in mind during the sad times. Doing that has helped me often when the tears begin. emoticon -- Lou

My Precious Baby (picture on my Spark Page) has been gone a little over a year and my Tinker almost 17. I'd tell you it gets better but that would be a lie. It's just a different normal. My border girls help and we're planning their first birday party in less than two weeks.

Very touching. It's clear that you loved Gator so much. Loosing a dog and dealing with their pain is such a challenge.

Sorry for your loss, it's really hard to deal with losing a furbaby! It equates to losing a child. I don't know how I will deal with it when one of my two crosses the bridge.

I can totally understand this. Whereas I haven't lost my big guy yet, the mere thought of it is enought to get me all misty eyed (seriously I'm tearing up right now). I swear I'm going to need grief conseling when it's time for my furbaby to cross rainbow bridge. RIP Gator!

I feel you. I put down my favorite dog when I was in my senior year of high school. It was a tough day and I've not met another quite like him. Hugs

I lost my lab Fluffy not too long ago, we had him since he was a puppy and seeing him struggle the last year was painful, so it was a bittersweet feeling letting him go. It's always tough to loose your pets, especially when they are a big part of the family. But you do learn from them. So sorry for your loss, but I would also think of him as a gain, you gained a new pet, and the knowledge that Gator left you.
