Loving Life Day 94 April 3, 2013

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

My mantra is running through my head this morning. Choices are ours to make. This morning my mind kept saying...just snooze that alarm, you have another one set for 5am, you don't really need to do the treadmill this morning, you can walk during lunch and again after work. Why get up at 4:30 am to do the treadmill? You don't have enough time to do the treadmill and play on SparkPeople after your shower. Mind games.....So what did I do? My body said get your lazy rear out of bed and get on that treadmill. You can't walk during lunch, you are getting your hair cut. Tomorrow is weigh in day, are you crazy? You HAVE to get up and get on that treadmill. YOU are the only one who can make this decision for YOU. How will you feel if you don't get up and on the treadmill? How will your day be if you don't get moving? Ok, so you get the picture. My body won over my mind this morning, and I got up and hopped on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I changed the incline a bit to make the workout harder, and don't regret one second of my treadmill time.

Why is it that we know what we need to do, but it's so hard to actually do it? Why is it that some people are very successful in their weight loss journey and others aren't? I think it's that positive self talk, that fake it to you make it mentality, and just do it attitude. So many times we fall into the trap, that little voice that tells us it's ok to make the decision to eat something we want that we know isn't healthy, or to skip that workout that we know is so important to our health. Life would be so much easier if those temptations weren't there, but without those temptations, would our lives be too boring? Hmmmm that is something I will ponder today.

I am the only one who can do this for myself.
I make the choice of what I put in my mouth and what I don't.
I make the choice to exercise or not daily
I make the choice to have a positive frame of mind
I make the choice to be healthy!

Goals for today:
~ read my mantra
~ 80 oz water
~ 10,000 steps
~ 30 minutes on treadmill before work
~ haircut at noon
~ c210k walk/run after work (week 2 day 3)
~ 15 flights of stairs
~ keep an open mind
~ journal every bite
~ weigh and measure food today
~ journal thoughts and feelings surrounding eating today
~ smile at least once an hour
~ learn something new and remember what I learned
~ eat a fruit or vegetable with every meal and as one snack today
~ focus on this lifestyle I have chosen for myself and don't sweat the small stuf

I love the idea of fake it until you make it! The way you talk to yourself makes a huge difference.
    Have a terrific evening.

Thanks. Keeping mentally focused is a huge part of the challenge. I discovered at the beginning of this journey that I frequently chose to procrastinate, to put off starting to do the things that were necessary to become healthier. it was when I decided to stop procrastinating and start doing what I needed to do to lose the weight that I did in fact start losing the weight. Now 50 pounds lighter, I have no regrets. Now the challenge is to keep up the good habits so the weight stays off.

I like your mantra and thanks for the positive vibes. Feel good about yourself for fighting that negative voice (the little devil). emoticon
