I am doing the slowest virtual AT hike in history but I am at mile 29 today. This places me in the vicinity of the Blood Mountain shelter in GA. Apparently this mountain is the highest point in the Georgia section of the AT and is either named for a gruesome battle between the Creek and Cherokee tribes or for the red color of the lichen that is apparent at the summit (source, Wikipedia).
This is typical for me, create an unrealistic goal, fail to be able to keep up with it and then quit. So I am back on this goal for today. I had to quit smoking about seven times, and then had to quit a pretty serious addiction to Nicorette, but in the end I succeeded. I have to take one day, one mile at a time.
