Kindle fire

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

I was going to get a kindle fire to use as my computer. It does store pictures I guess.
Does anybody own one, and do they really like it or not?
What about the Nook?
Please help, thank you!

I have a Nook. I use it for books to read when I go on vacation because it's easier than packing a suitcase full of books. I don't really access the internet with it unless I'm buying a book. I have a Macbook Air Laptop that I just love.

    Hi.
The KF is high on my list --- although --- now that I've gotten a smart phone - I'm not sure I need a tablet. I'm amazed at what my phone can do --- and I have a Kindle B&W eReader for straight reading.

If you get the Fire ---- can you let us know how you use it and how you like it??
Thanks and good luck.

My mother-in-law has a Kindle Fire HD, because she does videoconferencing with my hubby, it works beautifully, I recommend it lots.

The difference between the Kindle Fire, and the Kindle Fire HD, is the camera, I believe the price difference is worth it.

Hope my comment helps you.

Im in the same position that You are in with My Computer. I have been thinking about the Kindle Fire HD too. I don't know that much about the Nook. Not something I'm considering buying at all. I'm going to have buy a IPAD or IPOD because on needing to access a Website that You can only get to to if You have an Apple Product. So will end up with having to buy kindle HD (for the EBook Part) and an Apple Product. God Blessings to Everyone. Have a Nice Day. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had the Kindle Paperwhite since Christmas. I only wanted it as an e-reader and it works well. Whole lot easier for my hands though. I think I would like a Kindle Fire at some point.

I have one. I would recommend the Fire HD though. It is a little more robust.

I got my kindle fire a year ago when they first came out. I love it. I use it as my computer when traveling and read books on it at home. It does store photos, but for free you can install Google Cloud drive and store 5 MB of anything in the cloud and access it from your kindle [or any other computer] with your password.
The kindle fire has a lot of free apps [and a few that I've bought]. I use free Bible apps for studying and teaching. You can also download anything in .pdf [adobe reader] format, so all my travel plans gets saved as pdf files and stored on the kindle--keeps me from having to juggle print outs of air tickets, hotel reservations, etc.
You can even buy last year's model at a discount. I paid $199 and I've seen them on amazon for $100 now [last year's fire, not the HD]. Don't know how you have survived without your computer and no tablet.

I have a Nook--mine is just a Simple Touch, tho. However, I can access the web(it's one of those 'little known facts' of the Nook but it is hinkey). I bought the Simple Touch becuz I LOVE to read but I wasn't sure I'd like the idea of an eBook. But I DO! I'm going to upgrade later, probably. I considered a Kindle but I've heard they have problems(and what gadget doesn't) & I got a great deal on the Nook Simple Touch on that day after Thanksgiving sale at BooksAMillion. But one of the Nooks has the capability you're talking about.

Good luck!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my KF! My hubby isn't a reader, but fell in love with the capabilities of mine so I bought him one a few months later. Now he's reading for pleasure, checking his emails at lunch (free wifi) and enjoying himself. Easy set up and tons of free books on Amazon. I do like that you can change the screen to read outside. You can store photos and listed to Pandora, but I haven't explored those options. Btw- my sis and her hubs owns one too...
