I'm back and ready for April!

As you all know, March was rough for me. I had to stop running and spring break (plus my anniversary with my fiance) brought a change in schedule that made it hard to keep up with my program. I managed to do something every day in March except the last two - a travel day and Easter. Now I am back at school, back to the same ol' routine for the next month and a half, and I am ready to use that to my advantage!

My eczema has not cleared up due to various other things triggering it, but I have found a lotion that will clear most of it up in two days. I have decided that it is doing well enough and I've been feeling pudgy/tired/stressed/over all not good enough lately that it's time for me to start running again. I started up with a 5k Running Training Plan today.

It was amazing! I was so nervous about having lost all of my endurance, and I lost some, but I still had most of it. I actually really enjoyed the first 15 minutes of my run. Then it got difficult, so I cut my run to 26 minutes instead of 32. I pushed myself at the beginning, and I didn't want to overexert myself, so I decided to let myself be done when I needed to. But, wow, I feel so amazing having gotten back out there!

In addition to picking running back up, I have a few other things to work on for April. I am still doing the Eat Better challenge, so I will be working hard to watch what I eat better. My goal is to reduce my grains, especially refined ones. This means no more desserts and very limited pasta. I used to eat pasta at least once a day, but it was white and served in large portions. I was always craving it and never fully satisfied, so I'm trying to combat that. I also am working on increasing my fruits and vegetables. Right now my goal is 5/day. I am also continuing with yoga and body weight strength training. I hope to get a more solid routine down for that this month.

Overall, things are good, but not great. I lost 3 pounds over Lent, one pound short of what I was hoping for, but I'm still only 5 pounds away from my goal weight. I'm very excited about that, but I need to work a lot harder for it than I did those last two weeks of March. Motivation, self control, and knowledge. With those three things, I can do anything.

    It's good to see you back, and getting back on track. I'm glad you found something to help with the eczema.

Great news about the weight loss, too!

    You really are doing great! 5 pounds away from goal weight - how exciting!! Your changes in your foods will only help. emoticon

Wow! For someone who hasn't don't much, sounds like you've done quite a bit! I envy your ability to run and sounds like you did a good job of that (26 is a lot more than I could do!!). I wish you success on getting through school AND on your weight management journey.

In the meantime, "ten mucho cuidado" means "take good care". All the best!
