what's this "hand foot and mouth disease" mess?

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

So Easter was great! Had a wonderful time, met with family, ate, played with the Baby.
Unfortunately, starting Friday night my husband didn't feel so hot. He ran a 102 degree fever most of Saturday, and had gotten it down to 98 Sunday morning (so he went with us to Easter celebration) but was still feeling funky up to Monday evening and even today.
On our way from one family's house to another, I said my hands felt funny. Like, almost asleep. Pins and needles feelings. Then on the way home, my feet felt that way. Not the entire foot, just the bottoms and palms of my hands. All tingly, ouchie. I noticed when we got home I had red dots in between my fingers, and on the bottoms of my feet.
Well crap. 2 years ago coming home on Easter from THE SAME FAMILY MEMBERS HOUSE, I got a terrible rash that required steroid pills to stop. So I took 2 benedryl and went to bed.
Monday it was worse. More dots, still stinging pins and needles feet and hands.

My nose has been running something awful since I'm still fighting this stupid sinus infection, and yesterday I noticed it was getting flaky at the top of my nostrils. (when it usually gets chapped from too much blowing it's the bottoms) My ear lobes also have flaky bits near the canal, which is very unusual and I know I didn't scrape myself.

After much googling and reading, I think I've narrowed it down to Hand Foot and Mouth disease. Baby is in daycare, so it's entirely possible he had it and we didn't realize it. He had a funny rash on his cheeks, hands, and legs last week but no mouth sores and no high fever, just a bit warm. But, getting 4 teeth in a week would do that to you, right? lol So Now I'm thinking he had it, and we got it from him one of the many times we've wiped his nose, or his eyes, or he sneezed in our faces (for some reason as soon as you pick him up sometimes he sneezes right at you then laughs)

So yeah. Awesome.
