Happy Birthday to me! I'm like a little kid for my birthday. I don't need a big party, but I love receiving birthday wishes, cards, pats on the back - it makes me feel special. This day and age with social media wishes coming in at every moment is great for me. I feel encouraged and loved by so many friends and acquaintances from so many various walks of life - it is really fun for me.
But my plan for today isn't going to be what I had in mind originally. I was going to hit the gym for the 30-minute full-body circuit workout and another 30 minutes on the treadmill (oh, treadmill, my nemesis! It is on this day, the anniversary of my birth, that I was going to defeat you!) but I woke up to an inflamed Achilles tendon on my right foot. I felt a twinge in it last night and stretched it out really well, but this morning I've given in and I'm icing it. I will wrap it in a few minutes and see if I can take some time on the Gazelle since it is zero impact.
Yeah, I know! "A Tony Little Gazelle?" you ask. "I didn't think anyone was still using those crazy contraptions!"
I admit, it isn't ideal. It can encourage you to lock your knees and move in only one way for an unhealthy-long time, but it isn't a treadmill, it is zero impact for knees and ankles if you do it right, and you are moving. It is better than nothing.
But the new plan for the day is the Gazelle, wrap the ankle, go in to work for a half-day, and then relax, enjoy dinner with friends and family, and get back to my goals tomorrow (or when my ankle feels right again).
