John 2. One plus one equals two, why?

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Read John 2.

Typically we focus on the first miracle here which is supposed to be the first miracle that Jesus performed, turning water to wine. There are so many different aspects of that event, many of which have been hashed out a lot, I instead today want to focus on the final section. There is what I call head knowledge and heart knowledge. Head knowledge is the stuff that I can see happening, I know that it is really happening and if I study the science to find an understanding then I accept it. Heart knowledge is seeing something and not needing to know the mechanics behind it. Heart knowledge is allowing the spirit to accept the ultimate truth of what we see. These people were witnessing Christ's miracles, they believed that He was performing them but only in the clinical sense that there were sick people that were now well, blind that could see. They could not explain how and would not accept that He was God in the flesh. They had no heart knowledge, the scripture tells us that Jesus knew the heart of man. The bottom line here is that the heart of man will not believe until the spirit of God is allowed to come in, which is why it is so difficult for a highly educated person to accept Jesus, it requires heart knowledge.
