Starting Off Slower!

Monday, April 01, 2013

Well, I'm back! Again! I needed to take a break back in June of 2012. Then I lost my job, got another one in October. However; the biggest problem is that I have not been able to work out. In fact, my ability to just walk is a major problem. This has been a big disappointment. Up until last June,2012, I was very active and had enjoyed a great deal of freedom of movement. Now it is a major task to just get out of the chair or out of bed. I can't ride my stationary bike like I use to at 20 to 40 miles at a clip. I'm lucky if I can get 10 to 15 minutes on the bike.

From June of 2012 til now, I have had major muscle pulls with my right thigh and hip and my lower back on the left side. I have pain on that right hip constantly and my left knee.

This makes me walk like I'm a 100 years old, slow and unsteady. have no idea why this happened. I have not had the courage to see my doctor thus far. Please do not lecture, I know I need to see him just in my own time. I suspect that I am having arthritis
in my right hip and it has knocked of my body mechanics of my left side. My thigh bone is going to the left and my shin bone is going to the right. There is no cartilage to hold them together.

Since last June I have not gained weight but I have not lost any weight. Good but I still need to lose another 100 lbs. I started to do some exercises but very limited and mostly sitting down.
Weights are nothing but 10 lbs, a Bull worker for the chest and Bands to work the rest of me. Have decided to try things and if they seem to work will continue them but still looking for a way to build up my cardio.

Just gonna start over and make adjustments as I go along. Start off slow and build up. Open to suggestions and ideas, so feel free to give me one or two.

emoticon an now know why!. Could give many suggestions but without knowing what's causing your problems, would rather give them after you find the causes. Will, keep you in my prayers and pray for a speedy come back.

I'm glad to see you back, Adam ! Thanks for the goodie. I send you one. You'll need to check your goodie page. Your goodies seem to be out of order.

If you find it difficult to exercise, do what you can even if you only do 10 minutes. Don't forget, you can break your workouts up into shorter segments and still get all the benefits. So, if you can't bike for 30 minutes, then do three 10 minute sessions spaced out through the day.

And well, if exercise is difficult, then concentrate on eating more healthfully. When it comes to weight loss what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies healthy. So, if you can't exercise, pay closer attention to what you eat and your portion sizes.

Quickie update on my job hunt. I'm waiting to hear back from a recruiter about a contract job. I've had two phone interviews and one face to face that went well. Last week, I found out I they were doing a background check. that's a good sign, right ?

This morning, I sent an email asking if any decisions had been made because I hadn't heard anything since last week. hate waiting. the waiting really is the worst.

take care !! very glad to see you back on SP.

I have problems walking also due to my health issues. I really miss it, but I have found other ways to work out. I have several DVDs of chair exercises and chair aerobics, and there is a chair exercise team here on Spark, you can find the link on my page. I also work out with a stability ball, and use weights; there are a lot of weight workouts you can do sitting down.

I'm not burning as many calories as I did when I was doing my walking, but getting some movement in every day, even if it's seated, helps with my pain and stiffness.

Good to see you back posting again and to get your update. So sorry to hear of the pain you've been experiencing when trying to exercise and move. I wonder....do you have a pool available to you? I enjoy doing laps and water jogging regularly, and see many people with various injuries getting in the water to get a workout in. You might give it a try if you haven't already. Some people do the water jogging with their feet hitting the bottom to move along, but I do the deep water jogging with a flotation belt on to keep me in an upright position. Hopefully soon you'll get your courage up to see your doctor....
