What's your take on logging food?

Okay, just got back to logging, starting today-- no April fooling!

And stayed within my calorie range, I'm happy to say. In fact, as I stood in front of my refrigerator, considering a wedge of pie with whipped cream, I thought about--logging! And how I didn't want to see what my total would look like if my chart included that pie.

So, chalk one up for logging. I'm curious to know what all of you have learned from logging, and what you've done to increase its effectiveness in doing well with nutrition.

I took my lunch today, and I've noted that I do much better with each day's calorie total when I do that. I've also noted that I do much better avoiding mindless evening eating when I log.

I'm feeling hopeful today that the little bit of weight I gained when Jerry was sick and just after he died will drop off soon.

Send your experiences my way, please. And I'll use all the info to become a fit widow, my ultimate goal.

    logging has kept me aware of portion sizes and kept me accountable for mindless eating. I feel like I am still using "training wheels" as I rely heavily on the diabetes nutrition tracker and meal plans. I like to know at the start of the dy what is coming- I customize the meals and snacks for our family's tastes, but it helps me tremendously to look at a plan rather than a "blank page" which has always led to dietary chaos

    I find that logging in each meal keeps me accountable and within a healthy caloric range. Prior to committing to track all my meals, I'd snack here and there throughout the day without realizing that I had added an extra 300-500 calories! Even if they were relatively healthy snacks, too many calories in is not a good idea. So for me, I track everything, even when I'm having a bad day, even if I eat something I shouldn't, so that I can make adjustments as needed. It's the one thing that has been very helpful.
