In January, after reading The Spark, I started my first ever fitness streak. 45 days of at least 10 minutes a day of exercise. I also logged into Spark People daily and almost always logged my food. Most days I ate within my calorie range, and I lost weight consistently.
But the streak was really just about the exercise. I was trying to kick start myself since I've never really enjoyed exercise - and I've tried lots of different types.
Now, as I've mentioned in recent blogs, March wasn't the greatest month for me, and I've been letting my exercise trail off too easily. I also havent really watched my calories or food choices as consistently as I'd like either. I havent lost a pound. I need to kick it into gear again.
So I felt a "spring streak" was in order, and I started today by keeping to my calories and exercising for thirty minutes. The question I'm pondering is: what's my streak about? What are my rules? Is it the same as last time? Last time, all that actually counted for the streak was exercise, but other things seemed to fall in line. I'm not sure I want the obligation of 7 days a week exercise, so I'm toying with a few variations:
1. Track calories, track exercise, and track fruits/veggies or water. As long as calories and one of the others is on track, I reached the daily goal. I think I'd have to make a 4 day minimum for exercise each week though.
2. 10 minutes of exercise every day. That's it, so no excuses.
3. Stick to calorie goals, limit refined sugar, and exercise 4-5 times a week.
All variations are good, I'm just trying to decide where I am right now. Until I decide, I'll have to keep at the exercise everyday. You'd think I would have planned this in advance.
