April Goals

It has been awhile since I have made goals, as I have been very inconsistent with sparking and focusing on my health/weight loss the past few months. But this is a perfect time for a new beginning or fresh start. For me, April is an exciting month with the arrival of warm weather and spring growth - I feel more energetic and motivated each day. With that in mind, this month I will work on improving habits in four major areas that always seem to be most challenging for me.

Consistency:


I want to get back to good habits and do them consistently: eating 5 or more fruits and veggies, taking my medication/vitamins, doing at least 10 minutes of fitness every day, drinking 8 or more glasses of water, and striving to get seven or more hours of sleep each night.

Balance:


I tend to be an all or nothing type of gal. I get gung-ho over one thing and then neglect other areas of my life. This month I want to plan out each day with a variety of activities, balancing work and play, activity, relaxation, and sleep...and also giving my husband more attention at home!
Moderation:


Moderation goes along with balance, but I found out I need to have ut as a separate goal area, so I can concentrate solely on eating. I have tried to stay away from certain foods in the past, but I realize I will go back to them in the future, and when I do, I tend to eat them out of control. Instead, I will focus on portion control and eating my meals and snacks consciously, when I'm truly hungry, and then stopping when I am full.

Positive Attitude and Passion:


I definitely had the winter doldrums and felt apathetic and depressed over the past two months. I need to recharge my enthusiasm/passion for life! To work on my emotional state, I am going to meditate and get back to doing yoga. I am also going to write in a gratitude journal in order to focus on the good that happens each day.

Keeping track: It's all well and good to make all these goals, but following through with them is another story. I don't expect to be perfect with everything, but I want to hold myself accountable for how I am doing. I will do this in a personal journal, but also by rating myself in each area right here on this blog - a report card of my month! So I will be back here on a daily basis to report in. Hopefully this will help me keep focused on doing well.
