Oak or Mushroom

Monday, April 01, 2013

I once heard a brilliant comparison between a mushroom and an oak tree. A mushroom grows extremely fast. An oak tree, on the other hand, not so much. It takes years to fully develop into the tall, sturdy, impressive specimen that it will eventually become.

The practice of patience leads to great things.

For although the mushroom grows faster, in the end, it's still just a fungus.

And yet, fungi is some of the most fascinating stuff on earth, and so mysterious! I know it makes me a dork, but the fungi section in Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma was so intriguing!!

Debra :) You make me smile! I was slowly scrolling as I was reading...expecting a longer blog, maybe more words or less - yet it ended perfectly! Patience is so important isn't it? and so difficult. Yet when I really try at it...I feel such a relief! Such a breath of fresh air!! I can suddenly breathe again if I just allow myself some patience and...a little grace. :) Great blog! Hugs to you. I know you're going through so much. emoticon emoticon emoticon
and I dunno. But I've really never like mushrooms at all.
