I received a free one-week pass to the Y-Center from my work. I decided to use it this week since the boys are on spring break, thinking that maybe they would like to go and use the treadmills or swim. This morning there was a spinning class that I wanted to try. In all the years that I had belonged to the Y, I had never tried spinning! For some reason, I was always too intimidated! Anyways, I decided to take the plunge and try it out. One of my old trainers was the instructor. She's really nice, we actually used to get our kids together when I was homeschooling my boys. I got there early since I wasn't sure how long the process of signing up for my free week would take... It literally took about a minute. They didn't take my name or any info, just said "Write your name, address and phone number on the back of that card and keep it with you when you are here. Oh- and put a date on it."
I went into the spinning room and learned how to adjust the bike (the seat had to be lowered and brought in a bit). The class was good. I sweat quite a bit. However, I did find myself getting bored. I would look out the window or at my watch and think "Is this done yet?" She had good music and we did different things on the bike (hills, sprints, jumps...) My bottom will be sore tomorrow from the seat. I wanted to do some weight lifting today as well, so I was deciding between doing weights at the Y or going home and trying my new Asylum strength DVD. I looked around the gym, and realized that I just wanted to workout at home, with *my* stuff. It's funny, I worked out at the Y Center faithfully for years, and I honestly loved it there, but now really enjoy being able to walk down the stairs to my basement and do my workout (and be done!) So, I went home and did Asylum Strength. It's a good one. He incorporates a lot of cardio into it, too, so it was a little tough after doing spinning as well, lol.
Not sure how many more times I'll make it back to the Y this week. The boys and I are headed to the city next to here to look for a swimsuit for me. My husband and I looked all over today and couldn't find anything that I liked. The town next to here is bigger, so hopefully they will have more selection. I'm looking for a tankini type swimsuit, but I don't want the skirt to be *too* long. The longer ones float up on you when you get in the water. So I'm looking for more of a ruffle-type one, one that will just hide my backside a little more. I have a couple bikinis that I like, but I usually only wear those when we go away somewhere (by ourselves). Everywhere we looked today either had one-piece swimsuits or bikinis. I told him "maybe I'll just get a bikini." He said, "I don't know why not, it would look good on you." I just worry too much I guess about what other people think... We'll see, if I can't find a something tomorrow then that might be my only option.
We are taking the boys to Grand Rapids this Thursday and Friday. The Titanic Exhibit is at the GR Museum, and I have been wanting to see it. Jon found a hotel that has the tickets included in the price. The hotel also has a pool (which is why I need a new swimsuit THIS week, lol!) There is a nice shopping mall there as well. Adam (my oldest) is really into electronics (especially anything to do with Apple). There is an Apple Store there, so he wants to look there. It will be nice to get away for a couple days. This past week was extremely busy! My husband was in charge of our church's Easter Egg Hunt, which was HUGE. 54,000 eggs that were filled with 720 pounds of candy! Over 2000 people came. All of the proceeds went to the local homeless shelter. Then, we had two Saturday night services and four Sunday morning services, so he is pretty tired and REALLY looking forward to our little getaway.
