I went to Spain for the Easter long weekend. I ate quite healthy all things considered (thank you spanish tapas and the mediteranian diet!) however being a girls weekend of luxory I did over indulge a little.
As part of this weeks March into Spring Challenge we can earn extra points for blogging our food intake for the week..however I would like to do two. One to cover my Easter indulgence, and then one later in the week - this to me is clear as it makes a clear divide between holiday eating and back to real life. As much as this is not the best outcome in regards to calories, sometimes its important to just enjoy life and make a short term slip up and make the mental not to return to normal, rather than just hang up your shoes because your not perfect every day!
So here we go.....
Breakfast: Cafe Americano and Ham Toastie
Lunch: Green Salad
Dinner: Seafood tapas and red wine
Snack; Creme filled croissant (kind of anyway...it is a local speciality), crepe
Sunday: 2,234 Cal
Breakfast: Strawberrys and vanilla yogurt and bread with butter and tomato
Lunch: Vegetable tapas, coffee gelato
Dinner: 3 course seafood menu (goatscheese and pear salad, grilled fish and vegetables and creme brulee) with white wine
Monday: 2,152 Cal
Breakfast:Strawberrys and vanilla yogurt and bread with butter and tomato, cheese and ham
Lunch: 'Cheese and mushroom pizza
Dinner: McChicken Meal
Snack: Creme croissant things from spain
I think the issue here was perhaps not the food it self (well lets be honest there were some treats in there) but rather the quantity of wine I drank and the larger than normal portions I ate.
But Im glad I had this indulgence. I ate some incredible food, had a great time with my girlfriends, and still managed to have a healthy holiday (the food choices cold have been much worse and we mainly hiked during the days along the coast when it wasnt raining). Perhaps if i did it again I would take up smaller serving sizes...but now Im happy to go back to my normal routine and exercise the same discipline Ive had over the past six months.
