Pinch Punch First of the Month, April

Monday, April 01, 2013

I'm inviting you to join me in taking measurements on the first of every month. Measure chest, waist, hips, thigh, and bicep. Men may want to add neck. Why take measurements? Because, if you're like me, and the scale isn't moving, having a non-scale measurement of success may be crucial to your motivation.

I took my measurements...I lost 1.5"! Inch off the bust & half an inch off bicep. And I'm not bummed about losing off the bust, because that includes losing the dreaded back fat. This is a real win. Since even if the scale is not budging (and is actually up), it's the way I look slimmer that you can see. I also think my face looks thinner.

But I am continually frustrated by the scale. I weighed in at 182.8 today (I know I'm daily weighing again, but it's also first of the month). I hope I soon reach a tipping point: keep doing what's right, EVENTUALLY there will come a time when the scale moves in the right direction.

I'm meeting with my personal trainer today, and I'm looking forward to sharing my measurement of success with her.

YUP same here... I had a minor down turn on the scale but my measurements were fantastic... The big thing here is that the measurements show true changes in body composition. When the body composition changes, that means that the right things are being done and eventually everything else will follow.

keep pressing on!

How do you achieve consistency with measuring -- I very seldom see any change, and when I do (increase or decrease), I think it is because I am not measuring the same way.

I have committed to measuring on my first stength training day of the month. I wish that I had taken measurement when I started almost a year ago.

Yay!! Measurements trump scale every time.
Thanks for the reminder...I will do that when I get home.
