Slackin'

Monday, April 01, 2013

I always seem to find my way back...why....because Sparkpeople WORKS! I know it does I lost 75 lbs that way!

So where have I been? Well, slacking...that's where...well kind of anyway.

I was training for the Heart mini 15k, it was back on St. Patrick's day emoticon , yeah, well things didn't go so well.

I have a tendency to push myself, and sometimes I go to far. This time I did, I hurt my knee and I don't even know how. I ran 5.25 miles and finished off the last 4+ with a run walk combo and I was so excited. All I kept thinking was next week I'm gonna push and start cutting back on the walking time. Yes...I wanted to run the whole race no matter the pace. So the next Friday (my only "big" running day during the week) I started off and I got to 7.5 miles (same type of run before 5.2 and then walk/run) and my knee started to hurt. So, I immediately took it down to a walk and the pain was gone. I took a few minutes and then decided to try running again and as soon as I increased, the pain came back. Yes, I quit for the day, went home, rested and took the next week very slowly and didn't run too much, until the next Friday. 2.5 miles...that was it....all I was able to do without pain.

So I took a break, used the elliptical, arc trainer, spin classes and my new favorite...warm yoga, but my eating has been horrible!! And it doesn't help that I am not fond of the elliptical. But I've been slacking...little by little. I looked back today and realized I have been doing minimum when I do exercise.

Well, NOT ANYMORE!!!

I ran today, and I was ok with running 2 miles...with NO PAIN! emoticon That made me very happy.

I know when I track my workouts, food and measurements I do what I need to do to get the weight off and feel better. I have found some great substitutes for snack foods and my kids even love them. And I'm going to VERY slowly work my way back up to the 15k and will do one when I feel my body is ready to let me.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good for you for getting back into it! I am in the same general situation. Just getting back into it after slacking off. It feels good to get back at the exercise and eating healthy.

Yikes, I hope there's no permanent damage. I'm glad you're getting back into the swing of things.

75lbs! That's awesome! Congrats! You'll heal on this little exercise set-back and be back at it in no time!
