April Already!

Monday, April 01, 2013

Time is flying by! It will be Christmas again before you know it!

Just a quick update on what's going on with me. For the month of March, I lost 9 pounds! emoticon I've joined a couple of challenges this month so hopefully I'll stay motivated to keep moving. Speaking of moving, the 5K training clinic is awesome! It definitely keeps me moving. I ran the Magic Mile on Thursday in 13:44. Way slower than what I use to run, but better than I expected. I have a bad knee now & it goes out on me whenever it feels like it. I've tried a brace but it's so uncomfortable. I don't want to go to my doctor because he's going to tell me to stop going to step class. That ain't happening. So, I iced my knee as often as I can & pop pain pills.

I received my steroid injection mid-month of March. Can you say USELESS??!!!!! I wanted to eat anything & everything I could get my hands on. I had a spoon in my hand & a jar of mayo. How gross is that?? Yuck! Glad my kids were there to help. Plus, the injection raised my blood glucose levels sky high for a few days. Had me scared to eat because I didn't know how much insulin to inject. I could eat a small salad & my levels would be 300+! I went from 10 - 20 units of insulin to 30-40 units of insulin. I was scared to go to sleep because I didn't know if I would wake up. I didn't want to slip into a diabetic coma! So, now I'm STILL dealing with tingling & numbness in my legs AND now a bad knee.

I should get my insulin pump started this Friday. I'm excited about that. Maybe I'll get better control of my diabetes.

I definitely need new clothes. The pants I have on today are about to slip off. Luckily I have on a long shirt because I know my butt crack is in clear view! I haven't tried to get into my smaller pants. Well, I have & some fit ok & others are still a little tight. I'm in that in between size stage.

Well, that's it for me! Have a great day!

Good luck on getting your diabetes figured out. I hope the pump helps! Seconding on the thrift store. I go all the time to get clothes. I can't see paying $60-70 for something i can get for 5-8 bucks!

Wow, that business with your diabetes is really scary! I hope you get it straightened out. I don't know much about diabetes, but my husband has high blood pressure and we find some medications send his BP sky-high, so it's sort of the same thing.

GLAD the running clinic is going so well for you, and congrats on the 9 pounds! That is soooo awesome!!!!

I'm not looking forward to running tomorrow, it's supposed to still be raining. emoticon

I'm definitely going to the thrift store to look. I had to change into my work out pants. I kept stepping on my pants.

That is scary! I can't wait for you to get your pump so you can release the stress of diabetic comas.

You better get some new pants, girl! You probably look like you have a dirty diaper with your pants sagging like that! emoticon
